Dear Stefan,

Sorry for interruption,

When I try to recover datafile such as u201CH:\ORACLE\SOL\SAPDATA1\UNDO_1\UNDO.DATA1u201D I get the following error,

SQL> recover datafile H:\ORACLE\SOL\SAPDATA1\UNDO_1\UNDO.DATA1;

ORA-02236: invalid file name

Also when I try to bring it in online status I get this error,

SQL> alter database datafile 'H:\ORACLE\SOL\SAPDATA1\UNDO_1\UNDO.DATA1' online;

alter database datafile 'H:\ORACLE\SOL\SAPDATA1\UNDO_1\UNDO.DATA1' online

*

ERROR at line 1:

ORA-01113: file 2 needs media recovery

ORA-01110: data file 2: 'H:\ORACLE\SOL\SAPDATA1\UNDO_1\UNDO.DATA1'

Please advice.

Hi ,

did you chech what i tell you ?

You use open file option ?

Hello Ahmed,

thanks for the output.. you can see the problem there .. some of the data files have the status RECOVER (means that they are set OFFLINE - not checkpointed):

> 2 RECOVER H:\ORACLE\SOL\SAPDATA1\UNDO_1\UNDO.DATA1

> 6 RECOVER H:\ORACLE\SOL\SAPDATA2\SR3_3\SR3.DATA3

> 7 RECOVER H:\ORACLE\SOL\SAPDATA2\SR3_4\SR3.DATA4

Please ask your backup guys why they have set only some of the data files OFFLINE.. after you have clarified that you can try to set them ONLINE again.

> SQL> recover datafile <N>;

> SQL> alter database datafile <N> online;

Hello Ahmed,

>C SQL error 376: 'ORA-00376: file 7 cannot be read at this time

>C ORA-01110: data file 7: 'H:\ORACLE\SOL\SAPDATA2\SR3_4\SR3.DATA4''

>C *** ERROR => Error 376 in stmt_fetch() from oci_execute_stmt(), orpc=0

this is the reason why our instance work process is not starting: http://ora-00376.ora-code.com/

> This problem happen when Technical guy started for first time a testing backup by VERITAS,

Maybe he has set the datafile to offline or something like that. Pleas check the file status by running this query:

> shell> sqlplus "/ as sysdba"

> SQL> SELECT FILE#, STATUS, NAME FROM V$DATAFILE;

Yes because Veritas or stop the database or you use the open file option that must be deselected.

Let me know
