Hi,
A Phantom assembly does not exist.
It is a blow through assembly. but the compeonets of a phantom assembly will be considered for planning. No plnd order/ prod order/pur reqsn will be created for the phantom assembly as such.
Example...
The phantom assembly "set of wheels" contains the components "front wheel" and "rear wheel."
Here pur reqsn will be created for the front and rear wheels. The "set of wheels" is just a logical grouping to provide a structure to the BOM.

Phontom assembly meaning itself a logical assembly( Not a Physical).
It will not give any dependent requirements.
I think Thats why it is not exploding..
