Sorry, but you are not explaining the scenario and Excel file. How it's possible to answer your question?

    P.S. EPM version 10.1 sp17 Patch1 - extremely old!

    Hi Vadim,

Yes its a very old version of EPM.

There is an input form(consists of 3 reports) built by our functional team which they want to use in offline distribution. Users who donot have EPM access input the data and send it back for collection. There are more than 100 users like this. The report builder added a column for comments. This column is locked for the users when they receive it. They are able to input data but not comments against it. Sorry for the bad image.

Never use report builder! It's for users, not for concultants!

    Creating correct report for distribution:

    1. Create a report.

    2. Using formatting sheet ensure that all cells required for input are formatted as unlocked, other - locked. (Read help about formatting sheet)

    3. Protect the sheet with the EPM protection in sheet options using some password.

    4. Check that after protection all required sells allow input.

    5. Distribute protected sheet.

    Hi Vadim,

I am doing everything that you mentioned but when distributed, comments column is still locked for users.

I just have one question (probably dumb), in the input form, the 'comments' column is just an excel column, not a local member or doesnot have any formula. would this work. how to actually collect comments .I am new to this .Appreciate your help.

Simply use Excel Format Cell->Protection and unlock cells in this column. It's something very basic :)

that's the first solution I provided but they don't want the users to unlock. Any other ideas?

Sorry, I do not understand what do you mean by: "they don't want the users to unlock"???

    Who will do it? Magic?

It has to be done before distribution only once!

Next time they will want 2*2=5?
