Hi Kaushal,

Fist you restore the JRN Library using RSTLIB command,

After that use WRKJRN command press F4 option. Select R3<SID>JRN library and select first JRN file. inside of journal library we can restore entaire master datas. It will ask the Tape date. after taking some time all the R3<SID>DATA will restore.

Do it One IPL and start you instance it will work.

But I think(Normally) you will not taken the backup of IFS in online backup.

Online or Offline backup are same to restore option.

if satisfy..give awards

Thanks

Jibin.

Hi,

thanks for reply.

one more query is it possible to restore only R3<SID>DATA. because R3<SID>DATA and R3<SID>JRN belongs to different ASPs. so I think restore of only R3<SID>DATA should work.

we are facing some problem after applying support package.

we need to revert back to old stage, we have online backup of R3<SID>DATA and R3<SID>JRN date was 21.08.08

my query is, suppose we want to backup the data up to date 21.08.08 then we need to restore both R3<SID>DATA and R3<SID>JRN from online backup on date 21.08.08 or only need to backup R3<SID>DATA ?

Hi,

If any time you restore R3<SID>DATA library, before that you must restore R3<SID>JRN library. Because in this library only all the JRN files is there(database changes updations).

Do you have exprience with working on JRN?

If Yes, after restore R3<SID>JRN go to WRKJRN command and select option F4 select Library(JRN library). after that restore it master database.

You must know whenever you restore Database you must restore JRN also.

Don't worry about ASP also. automatically it will take to corresponding ASP. If the ASP not in the server, your restoration time it will create(OS will take care of that).

If this usefull give awards

Thanks

Hi,

Thanks for reply,

but according to note 825473

If the journal receivers (in library R3<sid>JRN or SAP<sid>JRN) are in a different ASP from the data libraries, then it is often the case that only the data libraries will need to be restored, as the journal receivers have been retained undamaged in a separate ASP.

any more suggestion?

Hi,

As I told you earlier JRN keeping the changes of Database updations or modifications. Your reply saying Support package updated, then the JRN also will update. so JRN also need to go back.

I think you must be restore the JRN library. If you are doing without restore JRN library. you will face error when you restore DATA library. OS will give " Object not found" like that error message will come.

JRN is in differnent ASP only (ASP2). That is not a problem in your case.

Example :Fresh migration also when you restore the JRN library automatically ASP2 will create. no need to create from OS400 level.

Thanks

Hi,

So you mean to say if I want to restore the backup of date 21.08.08 then i need to backup R3<SID>Data and R3<SID>JRN on 21.08.08.

Hi Kauschal,

it depends on what you want ...

IF you "just" want to recover to the point of your backup during night, you do not need any JRNRCVs. If you want to recover to "5 minutes" before your SPAM Start, you need the JRNRCVs - but in your case, they are on the system already )

=> CLRLIB r3siddata & rstlib r3siddata will help here ...

But then :

You need the knowledge, how to use APYJRNCHGX ! That is the most critical point I would say - hopefully, you are able to do it with that note - otherwise you should ask someone, that is familiar with doing that ...

btw: Mostly, you use the "old online backup", that works without *NOCMTBDY, that is even consisitent on the tape ....

Hi Kaushal,

based on such a question, you should leave the recovery to a person, that did this already - otherwise, you can only corrupt your complete system ....
