Hello,
My client is looking to implement SAP B1, server in the office and clients in 5 retail outlets across the city. any one having suggestions regarding the connectivity required and the s/w to be installed at the cash counters(Billing terminals), so that it can communicate with the server and update the data dynamically.
awaiting early reply

Hi Salman,
You can use Citrix Presentation Server to connect HO(Server) to the remote POS(Client).
Citrix provides administrators with the tools they need to take control of their Application Delivery infrastructure. This results in more control, less downtime, and a better user experience. Centralized Management features provide administrators the tools they need to manage their entire Application Delivery infrastructure from a centralized location while providing the monitoring and control systems that enterprise deployments need. Printer Management is critical for server-side virtualization. In server-side virtualization, users access their applications on a central server but often have local printers attached to their client device. Seamless integration and performance
optimizations ensure that they will experience seamless integration between application and printer.

Hi Salman,
In your case it appears as if the Server would be placed at the HO and the Clients are to be instaled at the BO's...am I reight??? Please correct if I am wrong.
The only issue here would be of the connectivity part. If there is prper internet connectivity existing between the HO and the various BO's then there should not be any problem at all.
Now as far as the software is concerned ...that would be totally depending on the Business Process that is to be mapped in SBO. Now since this is a retail scenario the number of items you are dealing with would not only be high but my guess would that it would need a very detailed and intricate tracking process. Ther woulb be several Item Groups and then several subgroups which inturn are also divided in various sub groups . If this is the case then the traditional SBO package would be of little help. You need to go for some really advanced ADD ON packages like the one given by M/s Citixsys. Please check the same out in www.cityxsys.com.
Hope this helps.

Hi Salman,
There is no need at all to install any other software other than SBO....but as mentioned earlier the traditional SBO package will not be able to handle cash counter requirements hence go in for a customised retail package like I mentioned earlier which has Retail which includes cash counter packge also.
