Russian Characters in Crystal Reports XI Windows SP4

Hi,

I have a sample report which reads a mysql database and display few data fields from it. The problem is the russian characters are not displaying properly instead strange characters are showing up.

Details:

Version Name: CRXIWIN_SP4

Mysql ODBC Driver: MySQL 3.51.21

Character encoding of the db: UTF-8

Should I install available service/language packs? I read a thread wherein XI Release 2 has multi language packs functionality upon install. But the suggestion there is to remove the current XI and install a fresh CR XI Release 2. I cannot afford to uninstall my current CR XI installation. Do I have any options?

Please help me to resolve this. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Please re-post if this is still an issue or purchase a case and have a dedicated support engineer work with you directly:

Go to this link: http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/boc and download the trial version of CR XI R2 and use your XI keycode, then apply the patches which you can get to by clicking on the BusinessObjects tab above, then Downloads.

I believe SP2 fully supports Russian language.

Can we have a screenshot of it please? If the characters are similar then you can use a display string to correct them however if they are totally out of the mark then I think you need to get a patch for it.

Check out Download section of BO.

Click Business Objects on top (displayed before Forum Link on top bar)

Click Business Objects Download from the left hand side navigation bar (its the blue one on the left)

Once you are on the page click on the link which is on the main page. This will lead you to download page.

Choose your version of Crystal and click search.

That should bring the details if any solution to Russian characters is there you can download it and test it.

If all of the above fails I am afraid I don't know any other solution however I would suggest try the above and let us know what happened.

I already looked at downloads section of BO. There are few files for XI Release 2. One thing is Im not sure if the current installation of CR is a Release 2. I can only produce the build number which is

CR Professional; Product Type: Full

Product version: 11.0

The highlighted field in the screenshot is supposed to be:

этим другим явл. ваша проблема после смены логинов.

but as you can see it was distorted.

Found out that my current Crystal reports installation is version XI Release 1. With full fixes and patches. Is there anyone know if upgrading to Release 2 version would resolve language issues being displayed in CR?
