Hi ,

We have a plan to migrate SMP to azure. Can you please let me know if you have done migration and how easy or difficult was the process of migrating.

As of today, we have only one mobile application running.

kiranmadhu1982 Its very easy to do it. Its exactly the same process.

In on premise scenario, Basis team installs SAP Mobile Platform on Windows Machine/ Linux Machine, which is On Premise.

Now, in cloud scenario this Windows Machine / Linux Machine will be in cloud. Basis team can connect to Windows Machine / Linux Machine in Cloud via RDP/Putty. Then SAP Mobile Platform can be installed in the same way its installed in On premise Machine.

most probably it is too late to help you as your question was raised on March but just to make it recorded;

there can be different approaches to migrate a sap systems from on-premise to aws

1- you can simply follow homogenous/heterogenous copy practices

db export / import : (take traditional export, transfer the file to S3 bucket at AWS, then launch an instance and transfer file to EC2 from S3 via AWS CLI, perform import)

backup - restore : (take traditional backup, transfer to S3 bucket, launch instance, transfer backup to EC2, perform restore)

2- you can follow vm export / import practice (take export of vm (you can import disks in the following formats: Open Virtualization Archive (OVA), Virtual Machine Disk (VMDK), Virtual Hard Disk (VHD/VHDX), and raw. With some virtualization environments, you would export to Open Virtualization Format (OVF), which typically includes one or more VMDK, VHD, or VHDX files.) , import vm as an image)

hope this helps to everyone

Is this for a specific application type (i.e Work Manager) or just in general?

Since you are looking to move to the cloud, have you considered just moving to the SAP Cloud Platform instead of running SMP on a hosted machine in the cloud?

Hi Bill,

Yes we working for SAP Work Manager application.

We are not considered SAP Cloud Platform as our customer wants to migrate to particularly on AWS server.
can you please help me with any documents to host SMP on cloud (AWS) and any documentation for Work manager configuration on cloud ?

Can you please provide me more details on hosting SMP on SAP Cloud Platform ? so I can suggest this proposal with our customer.

Thanks
