Repository Manager Issue

I have an issue with setting up a File system repository manager.

here is the exact error as seen in the component monitor iview:

"Startup Error: getting mapped math - Canonical path not available for adv"

adv is the path name for the server.

long story short here are my settings:

root directory matches the network path id which in my case is
xxxx.xxxxxx.com\adv

I tried using the IP address and it still doesnt work !

I have the WINDOWS id created and user mapped in the user administration.

my file system repository manager properties are below:

prefix: /advshare

active : selected

hide in root folder: not selected

lookup mode:caseless

root directory:
xxxx.xxxxxx.com\adv

Security Manager: W2kSecurityManager

ACL Manager Cache: not set

windows landscape system: WINDOWS

send events: selected

read only: not selected

Read-only Content Expiry Delay: nothing mentioned here

in the network path I have the correct windows user id and password who has ADMIN access...

anybody to help ????
