Why it allows me to change profit center in material w/ inventory(no error message about MM335)

I checked Tcode OMT4, it's maintained as "E" for MM335 and our company uses profit center accounting, not "new G/L accounting".

But it allows me to change profit center in MM02 which has inventory stock.

My expectation is it shows error "MM335" and can't save. Please help.

with SE91 and entering the message number and using the Where used button you get to the function module which issues the message only if the new G/L is activated (ELSEIF cl_fagl_switch_check=>fagl_fin_reorg_rs( ) = 'X'.) .

So you would need to modify this function module or you have to put your own logic into the user exit of the material master (enhancement MGA00001)

I don't understand SAP logic here(to treat PC accounting & new G/L differently).And seems didn't consider those still using PC accounting customers. If this can only be done the enhancement, I will do that. Thanks.

MM335 works only with the new general ledger, you said you do not use it, hence you will never get this message, no matter how it is set in customizing.

Sorry for the late reply. My confusion is For "profit center accounting", SAP allows me to direct change the Profit center but you mentioned in another thread, it's not recommend to update this field directly. but our function analyst suggest differently and says we can go ahead with direct change. so I'm confused about the process how to adjust the Profit center.

Thanks Jürgen. The explanation makes sense. But what's the Report name (Tcode) for this(123 has the received value and 789 the issued value. This is not consistent and logical)? I tried to find but failed. And the contradictory part is if it will cause inequality, why SAP allows to change and without provide any Warning/Error message?

Thanks Jürgen. the process about change profit center in MM means a lot to us. if we can simply then it can save a lot of time. since there exists open orders(like EKPO), if we can direct change profit center and don't need to consider other factors, it will become more easier. I also seek confirmation from our Accountant group but they don't know either.(But they know for sure we can't direct change valuation class with inventory and SAP also not allow to do that in MM02).
