Hi,
We are implementing SAP S/4HANA at our client and now we are in UAT phase.
I know that SAP is not supporting LSMW for data transfer anymore. Can some one guide me on how to I upload employee master data into the system? I have browsed through LTMS and LTMOM t-codes but have not found anything related to HCM.
Please guide on how to upload HR master data like hiring actions, in SAP S/4HANA.
For HCM, I'd recommend using LSMW, even for large amounts of data. Dynamic actions can be disabled (and are obsolete in SFSF EC Core Hybrid integration scenario's anyway). Custom solutions, that probably write data directly into the database, are the often main cause of data corruption in SAP, so I'd consider using existing, proven (and standard) solutions first.

Data migration for a large volume of HR data will be challenging in LSMW. You need to keep separate infogroups for uploading data (should not keep many infotype chains in infogroup).
Dynamic action is another enemy of LSMW (for example, if your infotype 2 is having marital status, based on this info, dynamic action will invoke different infotype screens, which will be impossible to create the recording).
LSMW was challenging in ECC 6.0 also (particularly for PA40, Basic pay infotype etc).
My opinion is that, if the data volume is very low, we can manage with LSMW, else go for other options.
regards
Bala

Dears, Is the migration cockpit available for HCM?

If you use MDG, it is also possible to upload Employee master via MDG. I think without MDG, it should also be possible to migrate employees via the business partner and use the BP > HR replication to create the employees.
Additionally there is now also a Fiori app to mass create and change the employees:

This might actually be the easiest route.

Dear All
One of my customer is interested in SAP HCM On-Premise option for SAP S/4HANA, they have some questions and hope you can support us:
should we have a carve out of HCM from R/3 and run this side-by-side or
can we just upgrade our R/3 to S/4HANA and upgrade the HCM to HCM for S/4HANA afterwards within S/4HANA?
Thanks a lot
Gaia

LSMW still can be used

Hi Hamza,
I am not an HCM expert but i have worked on similar solution technically. So my suggestion as follows:
1. Find out the infotypes involved in the actions via table T588D.
2. Build a custom object in LTMOM around BAPI HR_MAINTAIN_MASTERDATA and pass on the information for the required Info types.
You can see this >> link << for example code for passing the data to the BAPI and build/model your new object around it.
Thanks and Regards,

Dear Hamza,
Following Options are available for Data Migration in S/4HANA On-Premise
Option1 : Use SAP Rapid Data Migration with SAP Data Services.
Instead of LSMW, SAP S/4HANA data migration content called SAP Rapid Data Migration based on SAP Data Services software is offered to migrate data into SAP S/4HANA (on premise).
This content has been specifically built for the new SAP S/4HANA target system, its interfaces and data structures. The content is free of charge and can be downloaded from SAP Service marketplace.
“Restrictions / Important points about SAP Rapid Data Migration Content”
SAP Rapid Data Migration for SAP S/4HANA, on premise edition package is built on SAP Data Services 4.2 platform with predefined business content for SAP S/4HANA.
As per SAP’s NOTE : This content has been tested on SAP Best Practices for SAP S/4HANA, but it can also be used and easily extended for other countries and different deployments but some modifications might be required.
Option 2: Using SAP S/4HANA Migration Cockpit and SAP S/4HANA Migration Object Modeler
There is a new basic tool included in SAP S/4HANA (starting with SAP S/4HANA 1610) that is called SAP S/4HANA Migration Cockpit. It helps you to transfer your master and transactional data from SAP systems and non-SAP systems to SAP S/4HANA 1610. The cockpit is included in the SAP S/4HANA license and embedded in the S/4HANA shipment.
For the data migration, the cockpit uses predefined migration content, i.e. standard migration objects such as customers, suppliers or purchase orders to identify and transfer the relevant data. Templates and mapping for each migration object facilitate the migration.
In addition, it allows you to integrate your custom data objects into the migration using the inherent SAP S/4HANA Migration Object Modeler. For example, you can adjust the predefined standard migration objects delivered with the cockpit by adding fields to them. As of Feature Package Stack 02, you can also create your own custom-specific migration objects or SAP standard objects that have not yet been included in the scope of the migration cockpit.
You can use the cockpit by calling transaction LTMC which gives you direct access to it. The role required for the usage of the cockpit is called SAP_CA_DMC_MC_USER. To access the migration object modeler you use transaction LTMOM. A prerequisite for using the modeler is that you have created a migration project in the migration cockpit and that the role SAP_CA_DMC_MC_DEVELOPER is assigned to the respective user.
“Current Restrictions of Using S/4HANA Migration cockpit” …
Hope it helps.

Niladri
