We can't access sap via rfc from non sap as400

Hello

We use as400 with partitions and we need to access the sap partition from the non sap partition.

We followed the instructions in note 695125 and installed rfcsdk on the non sap partition.

We ecc 6.0 and V5R4M0 on the as400.

We adjusted the connection parameters in the sap supplied sample code to the values of our ecc system.

The return code of the program is zero, meaning error .

In the trace files of the ecc we noticed that no connection is being established.

Does anyone have experience connecting non sap as400 to sap using rfcsdk ?

Hello Benny,

we are using this all over the place ...

Unfortunately, I have to agree, that the error messages are not self-explaining and you need some experience in order to copy with that. But, then it is a really stable solution ))

The questions is: you want to access what on the other instance?

Markus, we're trying to call a function module. we need to incorporate data from sap in a report in the non sap report.

but we can't make the connection.

hello again

problem not resolved yet.

we made the rfc return some more information:

KEY OF RFC_ERROR_INFO = 'RFC_IO5 '

STATUS OF RFC_ERROR_INFO = 'CODE=CM_PRODUCT_SPECIFIC_ERROR STATUS=??? DATA=??? ID=ooo '

MESSAGE OF RFC_ERROR_INFO = ' SAP_CMINIT3 : rc=20 > Connect to SAP gateway failed Connect_

PM , SYSNR=20 LOCATION CPIC (TCP/IP) on local host ERRO

R failed to open file sideinfo TIME Mon Aug 25

13:46:53 2008 RELEASE 700 COMPONENT SAP-GW-LIB (ReadS

ideInfo) VERSIO '

INTSTAT OF RFC_ERROR_INFO = 'IO HANDLE=4 DRV=EXT LINE=589 CODE=5 '

i don't understand this, but maybe one of you can explain it.

thanks again
