Hi,

You just change the below parameter in initSID.SAP file which is located in C:\oracle\<SID>\<ORA_VERSION>\database

backup_dev_type = disk

backup_root_dir = F:\<Folder name where you want your backup>

Hi Alpesh,

I have read the post , and its quiet useful..What i need to know more about it is I need to give the Path for my External Tape Drive.

I have defined the type as Tape.

  1. backup device type

  2. [tape | tape_auto | tape_box | pipe | pipe_auto | pipe_box | disk

  3. | disk_copy | disk_standby | stage | stage_copy | stage_standby

  4. | util_file | util_file_online | rman_util | rman_disk | rman_stage

  5. | rman_prep]

  6. default: tape

backup_dev_type = tape

I have to define the Path how can i tell the system to backup to Extrenal tape drive.

  1. backup root directory [<path_name> | (<path_name_list>)]

  2. default: $SAPDATA_HOME/sapbackup

backup_root_dir = $SAPDATA_HOME/sapbackup

Thanks

Adnan

Hi Kumar,

The default backup location is..oracle/sid/sapbackup.

If you want to take backup to adifferent drive i.e F then you have to make changes to the oracle paramerer file init<sid>.sap you can find in the directory oracle home/database.

Create a directoty under drive F i.e F:/BACK

In that file you will find default backup location ../oracle/sid/sapbackup. you have to change it to F:/BACK and save the file.
