Container Managed Persistence Entity Beans VS Open SQL / JDBC

Hello Guys,

I just want to ask what are the plus and minus of using Container Managed Persistence Entity Beans from using Open SQL / JDBC in SAP Portal 70 on NW2004s in WAS 70 , I am in a project where I have to create users in a table for login using jsp and web module , and I am in the controversy if using EJB CMP Entity Beans or to use the Open SQL / JDBC to make inserts , selects and deletes or updates to the tables in the sap portal in SQL Server 2005 where I define in a Dictionary Project using Netweaver Developer Studio the tables I will be using.

I have seen a lot of post where many people tell me that using Entity Beans put too much overhead , specially to making selects or retrieval of data from the tables, and that it gives too much problems on performance, and many tell that JDBC is better. But maybe they are telling from their environment but I want to know if anyone of you have experienced this problems in the sap portal 70 environment using this CMP Entity Beans int NWDS and running them in the WAS 70 under SQL Server 3005 Persistence.

Based on your experience I surely appreciate any comments or recommendations on wheter to use Open SQL / JDBC or to better use CMP Entity Beans and explain me why in every case.

Thanks a lot

Point will be given.

Luis

    Hi Luis,

Please have a look at this https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/c0b53558-6df6-2910-cfbf-a63316bb0fad

in this link there is a tutorial here SAP Recommends a methodology to deal with the Data Base, here Ui Is WD but you can implement the Scenario for JSP and WebModule Projects as well with some modifications.

    Hope This Will Help.

    Regards,

    Siddharth
