Analysis for Office 2.2 - Slow Hana data source select when not Hana administrator role

Good morning experts,

In Analysis for office, when the end user is not assigned the Administrator role, the Select Data Source "Search" and browse by "Area", takes a very long time (+- 2min) to return the available views. If the end user is assigned the Hana sap.hana.admin.roles::Administrator, the available views are returned in less than 9 seconds. We have assigned the end user the Modeling permission in Hana, but still the response is very slow. We connect via Business Intelligence 4.2 SP2 (14.2.2.1975). I have made sure that the end user is assigned the sap.bc.ina.service.v2.userRole::INA_USER Hana role.

I have tried to trace this through the Index Server traces, but I see nothing listed. Has anyone seen this, and were you able to find the issue?

So sorry for the delay in responding. I am not using HANA, but have you checked the security pages in this guide: http://help.sap.com/hana/SAP_HANA_Troubleshooting_and_Performance_Analysis_Guide_en.pdf

Hi Tammy,

thank you for your reply. I was pulled of the project, but now I am back on it. It is not a performance issue from Hana. Something else is up. I have done some more work on it and what I have found is that if you assign the end user Data Admin system privileges, then the selection comes up fast. Otherwise it takes a long time. It has to be security related. Do you know of a good guide on Analysis security with Hana?

Will it help to open a ticket with SAP, or will that lead me back to you?

Hello Andre,

Did you had any luck with fixing this issue as we are facing the same issue?

Please note having an OLAP connection through CMC seems to work fine. It is only when AO tries to connect to HANA View we notice performance issues.

Please advise.

Thanks,

DJ
