Re: IS-OIL queries

Dear IS-OIL experts,

Just want to check on the Bulk Scheduling (TD), Load & Delivery Confirmation functions.

In each of the steps, the "Activate" and the "Generate/Confirm" button is used after keying in the information for each of the process. Why is the "Save" function not used as per other functions?

What are the difference and any implications? I am asking mainly because if I use the "Save" function, the steps will also go through and document is also generated without any problem.

So, if both method have no problem. What is the difference?

Pls advice.

Thanks.

Rgds.

    Hi,

Your question is very correct why not only save. See TD works on the concept of a status management. This means each following step is executed after the status of the preceeding is verified. This is one reason for having a different flow.

The activation functionality which you might call it has been provided so that the scheduler or the user can enter the correct material and temperature defaults if the quantity conversion is manual or pick up from the default table if the conversion is automatic. This is required as TD process triggers the material posting process in the background and as you will be aware for all OIL materilas the quantity conversion data is mandatory.

Noe the generate button that you see is used instead of the save as you are generating a confirmed schedule. If you save you still have the option of adding further schedules to it. But generation explicitly tell the end user that we are ready for loading.

Hope this gives you some information on your queries.

    Regards,

    Gaurav

    Dear,

The reason for activation and confirmation used is because in OIL and Gas industry, sometime we have to change shippment doc, or load confirmation doc after creating them. So simply saving them creates the relevant doc, but in order to post goods issue or schedule the shipment, we have to use confirm the shipment icon. Since Oil volume changes with temp/pressure, hence such functionality helps. It is same as saving a delivery without posting good issue. U can save a delivery and then later on do POST GOODS ISSUE.

    Hope it answers your query

    Vikram

Hi in TD shipment you are issuing gooods via shipment. this is for bulk material and loading will take more time almost 3-4 days whereas in general it will be neglegible as compare to it . So it is a major task. Once the loading is done one should gives the confirmation not save. so the word load confirmation. activate is the same during unloading.

    Hi,

Activating means you are accepting the default entries or accpeting the changes you made in the document No material document is posted. While confirming, means that everthing is finalized in which material document is created. The vehicle/ship/train/etc can now leave the loading area.OR the shipment is completed/acknowledged by recipient

    Hi,

Once you create a shipment and save , it will only in creation state to use that shipment you need to schedule it first via red button.
