Hello all,

I have just recently installed SAP NW ABAP stack in Windows system. The installation was fine i stopped/started the instance many times from SAP MMC.

I shutdown all the services (sap/oracle) and took an offline backup. Now when i not seeing any SAP instance entries in MMC.

I then tried starting SAP instance from command prompt using the command am getting the below error.

sapstart pf=<start profile>

Start service SAPSID_03 on machine
<hostname>

StartService of SAPSID_03 failed. Error#: 1056

Cannot connect to DCOM Interface of Start Service: -2147220480

Any help is appreciated.

Regards,

Sandeep.

Dear Sandeep

The problem is due to corrupted sapstartsrv.exe in usr/sap/<sid>/dvebmgs00/exe/run.

To solve this problem, check if any file named sapstartsrv.exe.new or sapstartsrv.exe.temp

is created during the problem time. If such file exit rename the current sapstartsrv.exe file to

sapstartsrv.exe.old and rename the sapstartsrv.exe.new to sapstartsrv.exe.

Hope this will solve the issue.

Hi,

You need to install the sapservice again.Open a command prompt->go to the directory usr/sap/SID/SYS/exe/run> execute "sapstartsrv"> a text box will appear there in the username field put the value ". /SAPserviceSID",then give the password.

Then restart the services it must be work.

Thanks,

Hallo Soman,

You can run sapsrv from the command line and choose the radio button "Intall the serviceRegister COM interfaceStart Service" providing the instance data: SID, Instance number (NR), the start profile fully qualified name plus the username with which you want to run the service (typically should be SAPservice<SID>) and its password. Leave the startup type "automatic".

You have to wait a bit for the completion of the COM registration.

Afterwards, starting SAP MMC you should see the instance.

Hope this helps,

Ivan Bazzi.
