Hi All

i want to change a supply area for the exsiting kanban control cycle. I tried to change the supply area which is having the different storage location, but system is not allowing me to change it. Please suggest me if there is any other way to change supply area in the kanban control cycle rather deleting it.

Your help is highly appreciated.

Quantum.

Hi

Steps in SAP: (Discrete Manufacturing - Classic kanban)

1) Maintain Supply Area T code:PK05

2) Create Material Master with all relevant Kanban Data Eg: JIT Delivery schedule, Supply area

T code: MM01

Create BOM,Routing,Work Centre for which are all required to carry out Discrete manufacturing cycle- CS01,CR01,CA01

3) Create Control Cycle: T code: PKMC

4)Go to Demand Kanban Board T code: PK 13 N

5)Convert Waiting Kanban to Empty (Using Kanban Board/ T code:PK21)

6) Do the confirmation & Goods Receipt for order/ Convert Empty Kanban to Full (Using Kanban Board/ T code:PK21)

Similarly you can try other Kanban procedures like u2013

KANBAN with Quantity Signal , One-Card KANBAN, Event-Driven KANBAN Input: (For Classic Kanban)

Input: (For Classic Kanban)

Expected Results

1. Maintain Supply Area T code:PK05 :- supply are will be created

2. Create Material Master with all relevant Kanban Data Eg: JIT Delivery schedule, Supply area

T code: MM01 :- Proper Master Data will be created

3. Create BOM,Routing,Work Centre for which are all required to carry out Discrete manufacturing cycle- CS01,CR01,CA01 :-

4. Create Control Cycle: T code: PKMC :- Control Cycle/material will be created

5. Go to Demand Kanban Board T code: PK 13 N :- Display of Kanban Control Cycles with Kanban

6. Convert Waiting Kanban to Empty : - Production order will be generated

7. Do the confirmation & Goods Receipt for order/ Convert Empty Kanban to Full :-

Kanban signal changes from Empty (Red) to Full (Green)

Hi Saravana

I appreciate for putting your time to describe the whole process of Kanban, but unfortunately it doesnt answered my question.

My question is, i had assigned a supply area to the kanban control cycle, but want to change the assigned supply area to the control cycle, which system is not accepting it. So is there any other way that i can assign a different supply area to the same kanban control cycle.

Please let me know if my question confuses you.

Thanks,

Quantum.

Hi Quantam,

just a guess: Since stock is in a storage location, maybe the system doesn't allow a change while you have inventory. Maybe setting all Kanbans in the cycle to empty helps?

I went into my DEV Client and I was able to change the Supply Area and save. I did recieve a message upon changing the Supply Area, but the message was an Informational Message, thus I was able to save my changes. Are you recieving a Message when you change the Supply Area and what does the Message say?

Hi Mike

The message i got is given below.

The stor. locs of previous supply area SA1 and supply area SA2 must match.

I think once the inventory transactions are happend it wont allow us to change the storage location or supply area of the Kanban.

Mike i got you what you are saying.

i think you havent changed the storage location which is assigned to supply area. I am trying here by changing the storage location and the supply area then it will allow us to change a supply area in the control cycle.

my question is for changing both. I think it is not possible once we have done some inventory transactions.

Yes, you are correct, I did not change the Storage Location. You can try double clicking on the Message to get a Longer Text Version of it. Sometimes SAP provides a longer text and sometimes not. If the longer Text Exists it may have corrections you need to make. I can try later on our DEV Client and play with the Storage Location as well.

Mike

I appreciate your concern on this issue. Once the inventory transactions are happend it wont allow ud to change. So i may have EMPTY all the kanban containers and put all the containers in WAIT status then system will allow us to change the supply area. Once all the kanban containers are in WAIT status then this control cycle behaves like a new one. So we can change or delete the control cycle at this stage.

Correct me if iam wrong Mike.

Thanks

I would try this on your DEV Client first. You do not need to set the Status to "EMPTY", as this will trigger another Transfer Requirement. Just set the Status to "WAIT" instead, as this is how I Delete a Control Cycle.

PK31 does not trigger any transfer requirements. if you change the status through PK13n then it triggers. Hope i am correct.

I am only familar with PK13N which I know does trigger a TR.

Ok. But if when you change the status of kanban container from EMPTY to FULL then inventory of this material goes up, if you use through PK13N. Where as, if you use PK31 then no inventory movements takes place.

SAP doesnt recommend to use PK13N for kanban status change.
