Description Problem

hi,

When i am creating the Asset in AS01 and when i am entering the Description of the Asset, the same description is copying in the Asset main no. text.

The client does not wants that to be taken automatically when he press enters after entering the Description.

Please let me know, is there any settings for the above...

    Hi Ranjit

You could try suppressing the field through:

SPRO - FA - AA - Master Data - Screen Layout - Define Screen Layout for Asset master data - Define Screen Layout for Asset master data - <select your asset > - Logical Field Groups - General Data

Here you can suppress the fields (Description 2 and general long text) you do not want to be displayed.

    I hope this helps!

    Regards

    • Ranjit,

This is working by design. The Asset Main Number Text field is intended to be used in cases where you have a lot of sub-assets. The appropriate solution is to make the field display only at the subasset level so that you always see the asset description of the main asset that the subasset is part of... but the sub could have a different description. Does that make sense? So it will always copy in the value from the Description 1 field.

I'm not aware of how to stop this from happening other than to use a substitution that overwrites the value with a blank.

    Hi Ranjit,

If you make this field mandatory, I presume, no copy will be done.

    Eli
