Hi All,

I would like to create coding mask therefore, the user must follow the coding mask when create PRoject/wbs

My project code is : XXXXDVPLHYYNN

XXXX = plant

DV = division

PLH = prject type

YY = year

NN = number of project.

What the best coding mask should i use and how to create it?

2nd. What the function of graphics profile for WBS date planning.

Project System - Dates - Date Planning in WBS -Specify Graphics Profile for WBS Date Planning

Appreciate for your advice.

Nies,

For Coding Mask I would suggest you to use an alphabet in the begining for ex- N-XXXX-DV-PLH-YY-NN. And you create it in Tcode OPSJ and also see OPSK.

Following points might help you more on this:

-Coding Masks are important if you need to have some intelligence in the way your Project Definition and WBS Elements appear to the user.

-They can reflect the structure of a project

-They can control project Identification

-They only relate to Project Definitions and WBS Elements

-They determine what special characters are permitted to separate the structure view

-They are not connected to Profiles u2013 the u2018Project IDu2019 used in Operative or Template projects determines the mask

-Different Masks can be used with one or many Project Profiles

Not sure about the other part of your problem. Hope it helps.

Thanks.

Honestly, your mask is tooooo..big. How you can expect anyone to remember or punch in such lenghty code while posting anything onto level 4 WBS element (whose lenght is 22 Char).

Ask business if they really need such project codes, why is it required to capture plant,project type in project code when you have specific master fields for them? It's you call, try to keep it simple.

HI Sreenivas,

appreciate for your input. Actually, it has some meaning for it.

PHRE: Plant

01 : Division

PLH : Project Type

08 : Year

01 : Project number

TP : 1 level activity in plantation (land clearing for example)

SB : 2nd level of activity.

1 PHRE01PLH0801

2 PHRE01PLH0801-TP

3 PHRE01PLH0801-TP-SB

3 PHRE01PLH0801-TP-IM

3 PHRE01PLH0801-TP-TB

3 PHRE01PLH0801-TP-PJ

3 PHRE01PLH0801-TP-PS

May i have your suggestion ? what the impact if i use TP and SB using network activity rather than WBS? the business process using Activity based costing.

Cheers,

NIes
