new LC server

Dear all,

Can someone explain the principle and/or problems when you install a new LC server for SCM 2007.

note not from backup tape, only backup cubes are available.

What will be missing? What is the process to "restore".

Can you elaborate what you mean with "backup cube"?

    Hello APO user,

-> The Complete SAP MaxDB Documentation available at

-> For SAP liveCache documentation in English please see the SAP note 767598.

-> Please review the helpful documentation at SAP links ->Technology -> "liveCache overview "

-> Please see the SAP notes::

Note 391625 - Backup and Recovery for APO 3.0A Demand Planning

Note 869267 FAQ: MaxDB LOG area

Note 952783 FAQ: MaxDB high availability

-> As I understood you are running SCM 2007, as of liveCache version 7.4 logging is written

in liveCache. You need to schedule the data backups & set the autolog on for the log backups

to be written regularly, so you could recover the liveCache using the data/log backups.

Please see the recommended procedure in the document:

"Solutions Operations Guide SAP SCM 4.1"

at ->Technology -> Information on SCM 4.1 and prior releases

"Backup and Recovery for SAP APO (3.x) / mySAP SCM (4.x)"

at ->Technology -> Information on SCM 4.1 and prior releases ->

Best Practices for mySAP SCM Solution Management

-> So as in the liveCache version 7.7u2026 the logging is written in liveCache, for the backup/recovery

procedure of the liveCache you don't need the backup infocubes.

But you could save the TS data to the infocubes & if the DP version, for example, need to be

initialized later. The TS data be extracted from infocube.

This could be discussed with the application colleagues at SCM APO/BI forum.

-> Or please give more details about your disaster situation to find the recovery solution for your case.

Thank you and best regards, Natalia Khlopina
