what is the significance of the RFC destinations LCRSAPRFC and SAPSLDAPI role in xi?

LCRSAPRFC
The RFC destination LCRSAPRFC is required for the connection to the System Landscape Directory (SLD). It is used to read the exchange profile.
SAPSLDAPI
The RFC destination SAPSLDAPI is required for the connection to the SLD. It is used by the ABAP API.

If your business system is a Unicode system, the RFC destinations LCRSAPRFC and SAPSLDAPI are used and need to be defined for the connection between the business system and the System Landscape Directory (SLD).

Hi ,
This RFC are used to connect the SLD of XI and reflects them in R/3...
If u check with SLDCHECK transaction with this RFC you will get error.
After this RFC u can see all the business systems in rfc and that mean u r connection to sld is working fine..

Create RFC destination (TCP/IP) LCRSAPRFC and SAPSLDAPI for the SLD connection.
