System Landscape and Environment

Good day Susanne,

I am a SAP Business One Consultant currently working on a project and I need a recommendation on the setup of servers to have SBO installed on them. Could you please offer your recommendations and suggestions as to how this should be done.

The specs are as follows.

Server1:

- Dell Power Edge 2950

- 2 X Quad Core 64bit

- 16gig RAM

- 3 X HDD @ 500gig ea

- Raid 5 = +- 900gig

Server2:

- Dell Power Edge 2950

- 1 X Quad Core 64bit

- 16gig RAM

- 2 HDD @ 300gig ea

- Raid 1 = 300gig

We need the following installed on these servers.

- Windows Server 2003 x64 on each machine

- A Terminal Server

- SAP Business One 2007 PL30 will be our entry level (License / Server / Client) 50 users

- SQL Server 2005 x64 (Medium size company with high volume data input via integration on a periodic base (every 10 minutes) of Sales Documents. +- 15000 docs at a time)

Please email as soon as is convenient. Your help is greatly appreciated.

Thanking your

Noor MC Jooma

    Dear Noor MC Jooma,

Please note that "Year End transfer" by SAP Business One is supported only for The Netherlands and Israel. It cannot be used for any other localisation. If your customer is not located in one of these contries I am concerned about the expected growing of the DB per annum.

Please use the [Opportunity Qualification Tool|https://websmp109.sap-ag.de/~form/sapnet?_SHORTKEY=01100035870000705765&_SCENARIO=01100035870000000183&_ADDINC=011000358700001192682007E&] in order to qualify SAP Business One for the business requirements of your customer.

    Hi Noor,

There are many specific details to be taken into account when implementing a new system.

I would like to point you to the portal, Knowledge base > Document resource center > 2007 A. Here you will find many documents including SAP Business One Best-Practice System Setup and Sizing, and also the installation guide which will provide you with all the information you need.

    Hope this will be helpful.

    Kind regards,

    Willy

    Hi guys

Thanks for all the replies. I have read all these materials but I wanted some external independant suggestions as to the environment setups. 1 thing that I did not mention was the DB size expected and we believe it will grow to between 8 - 10gig per anum. A year-end transfer will be done for other years if needed with open items.

    Crrently my environment suggestion is:

    Server 1:

    2 Partitions C:\ = 50gig and D:\ = 850gig

    C:\ Windows Srvr 2003 x64

    C:\ SQL Server 2005 x64

    D:\ Data Folder

    Server 2:

    1 Partition C:\ = 300gig

    C:\ Windows Srvr 2003 x64

    C:\ Terminal Server

    C:\ SAP Server

    C:\ SAP License Server

    C:\ SAP Server Tools

    C:\ SAP Client

Would this be an acceptable segregation of workloads and security between the servers or does someone have any other suggestions or exerience?

    Thanks
