No lot skip in DMR

Former Member

Hi ,

I assigned DMR in the inspection plan . In DMR there are two stages

stage 10 ( indicator initial stage is active )

Stage 20 ( Indicator skip is set )

In stage 20 i have entered no skip = 2

When inspection lot get generated initialy stage 10 get attached and then for next lot stage get changed to 20 as per setting i have maintained in stage10.

But as i have activated the indicator SKIP for stage 20 ; inspection lot should not get generate for this stage ?

In the generated inspection lot it showing status as skip

PLs tell what i am missing

Skip lotting in SAP is somewhat different. SAP does not actual prevent the creation of the inspection lot. It simply sets a status of SKIP on the inspection lot. The lot is still there and if desired, it can be used. Once a characteristic is accessed in the lot, it becomes a normal inspection lot.

You need to setup an auto UD batch job for processing the skip lots and closing them. Skip lots have their own "wait" time defined in plant QM config settings.

Hi,

Thanks Craig & Naik.

1)That means by DMR i can not stop the inspection lot generation.

Craig in ur post u said ' if desired, it can be used ' What it means? because if lot is there i must have to use it for stock posting.

2) My client want that for a particular vendor inspection lot should generate every after 5 goods receipt is it possible to meet this requirement by DMR

Thanks

All of first lot and lot of thanks to Craig to clear the conceptual understanding about the DMR and it's feature of SKIP lot.

Dear Amol,

1)That means by DMR i can not stop the
inspection lot generation.
Craig in ur post u said ' if desired, it can be used '
What it means? because if lot is there i must have
to use it for stock posting

By this he mean that the inspection lot will get generated but it will have the inspection stage according to the DMR(SKIP), about that you can come to know with QA32/33 layout it self, incorporate the field "Inspection Stage" in the layout.

>if desired, it can be used

by this he mean that if due to some reason you need to record results for the lot, you will always allowed to do such.

Yes you have to do stock posting and UD also. But that must not be matter of worry, you can set the automation for the skip lots.

Refer the links to plan automatic UD.

The T codes for that are QA17- for planning the job.

QA16 - Collective UD

QA10 etc etc.

2) My client want that for a particular vendor

 requirement by DMR

DMR will 100% meet this requirement, refer the links.

Dear Shymal,

No No dear I think the words I used may have cause the miss understanding. I regenerate for that.

For your Question No 2 I said refer the link and set the DMR, it will trigger the lots, that is for sure, but as the lots will cross the dead line (deification in the automatic UD job), it will finish the lot processing automatically.

Maybe an example is in order.

1000000456 REL <---Requires results and UD

1000000457 SKIP <--no results processed by auto UD.

1000000458 SKIP <--no results processed by auto UD.

1000000459 SKIP <--no results processed by auto UD.

1000000460 SKIP <--no results processed by auto UD.

1000000461 REL <---Requires results and UD

1000000462 SKIP <--no results processed by auto UD

1000000463 SKIP <--no results processed by auto UD

1000000464 SKIP <--no results processed by auto UD

1000000465 SKIP <--no results processed by auto UD

1000000466 REL <---Requires results and UD

If you did 11 receipts in a row, you should get lots created as above. The SKIP lots do not require any resutls to be recorded and are processed by an Auto UD program. Since these are SKIP lots, the stock should already be in unrestricted inventory. If say the dock guy notices something amiss about the shipment, they can choose to pull a sample and record results on a skip lot if the Auto UD hasn't yet processed it. This is why most places put a 2-3 hour minimum wait time on skip lots. If you record a result against a skip lot then you must finish results recording and perform the UD and make a stock posting. Since the stock is in unrestricted already, if you reject material, the system will use a different movement type, (specified in config), and move the material from unrestricted to whereever you specify, (i.e. blocked, restricted, other material, etc..).

Skip lotting never stops the actual creation of the inspection lots. It only controls the Status assigned to the lot.

Hi All,

in addition to above question i also would like to add that similar kind of scenario i have in my project. like every after 10 skip client wants 1 lot to go for inspection, so i m also using Auto UD for all 10 skip lots. but client one more requirement is he wants skip counter. may be anyone of you can help me in this issue.

skip counter is basically no of skip lots (but not from the beginning i.e. material will come to skip stage so many times but i want skip counter to be calculated out of 10 always)

below are the field from Quality level screen( Qdl2), so can we make use of one these field?? and can anyone expalin me the functinality of Insp. since change, i am not able to understand it.

Next stage 10 Normal Inspection

Insp. since change

Not-OK inspections

Lots w/o decision 2 Date

Thanks!!

Amol,

Inspection lot will be created with status REL SKIP .Once all these condition * have been met you can run background job to make the UD.For this there are couple of options .See tcodes QA10,QA16,QA17 and QA18 .QA10 is to make an UD manually and QA16 are job planning.

*

All inspection characteristics are completed

None of the characteristics were rejected

No defects were recorded, and no quality notifications created

The lead time set in Customizing must have elapsed.

Hope that helps.
