Business Objects EDGE Standard installation / pre-requisites issues

Hi All,

We have to install Business Objects EDGE Standard version for our company. The installation CDs which we got from the BO website are,

ISO IMAGE BusinessObjects Edge Standard - File 1-3-14-60074-085

ISO IMAGE BusinessObjects Edge Standard - File 2-3-14-60075-085

ISO IMAGE BusinessObjects Edge Standard - File 3-3-14-60076-085

ISO IMAGE Crystal Reports 2008 (with SP0) - WIN - INTL-14-70183-085

ISO IMAGE Xcelsius 2008 - WIN - INTL-14-20017-085

ISO IMAGES BusinessObjects Edge Add-ons-14-60077-085

You get the idea that we want to install and configure,

1) Installation of SAP BO Edge Standard Version

2) SAP Connectivity package (Interface SAP BI 7.0 to BO server)

3) Installation of Excelcius

4) Installation of WebIntelligence

5) Installation of Crystal reports

Now the point is, We use the first image CD from the Edge Standard install, but it turns out that it is Business Objects Crystal Decisions only, even though the title of CD says BO EDGE Std.

Any one put some light on the same ? Are we missing any CD/DVD's from BO ?

We downloaded all that were shown on the download page as per the order.

Thanks

Yatin

BusinessObjects Edge is the new market name for Business Objects Crystal Decisions. It is the same product.

Hi Fritz,

When I check the SAP Help Portal for Edge Standard documentation, they have 2 separate installation guides for Edge Standard Series 3.0 Setup and Business Objects Crystal Decisions Installation.

Although the instructions look same, so as you mention it is very well possible that the name is different now.

But when we did the installation from the CD, it creates the MySQL database and installs Tomcat 5.0.27 as part of the installation but after the installation , when we open CMS page the userid BusinessObjects which was created as part of the installation does not work at the logon prompt and the MySQL database keeps crashing just on the fresh install.

Initially some java outofMemory errors appeared, but we then installed JDK 1.5.0 ( initial was 1.4.2 with install ) and increased the JAVA heap memory parameters then error disappeared but the login still does not work.

Any clues on the same ?

Thanks a lot in advance

Thanks

Yatin

Try to login to the Central Management Console with "Administrator" and no password.

The user called "BusinessObjects" is normally your MySQL username.

Hi Fritz,

I will check the same, as we are reinstalling BO again, and get back to you.

Just to know, where is the information about the Administrator with blank password available ?

Thanks

Hi Yatin,

You should be able to login with u2018Administratoru2019 and no password as Fritz suggested. so for I did not find this info in any BO docs.

Page 99 of the BusinessObjects XI R2 installation guide:

"By default, the Administrator account has no password."

http://help.sap.com/businessobject/product_guides/boexir2/en/xir2_bip_install_en.pdf

In XI 3.0 you can specify the CMS password during installation.

Fritz,

Points granted.. Thanks a lot.

The only point is, since we used Edge Standard version, I did not refer Enterprise Guide which you provided. We used the documentation which came along with the CD and it does not have this information as per my knowledge.

Thanks a lot again
