Summarization tables for COPA extraction

Hello experts,

I want to add a field from the Operating concern structure to the COPA datasource for which I need to delete and recreate the datasource. But I was told that I need to take care of filling the summarization tables after recreating the datasources. I am not sure about the concept of summarization tables. Can any of you experts throw some light on it as in what I am required to do after I recreate my datasource and what actually are summarization tables?

Thanks

Rishi

COPA data (non planning) sits in 3 tables,CE1xxxx,CE3xxxx and CE4xxxx. where xxxx is your operating concern. These 3 tables hold different levels of information, somethin like a detail and a summary. CE1xxxx holds the line item level information. Check the details in the above link.

Whenever an accounting happens,COPA data goes and sits in these tables. You can check a billig document and check the accounting tab, there you would see accounting entries which have been posted to COPA.

Since your field is already available in these tables and is available in your data source, there is nothing that needs to be done from your part, you just need to delete and recreate the data source. Just check if data is available for this field in your table CE1xxxx. Else write a user exit to populate this field.

below link would describe how COPA data looks in different segments.

    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_47x200/helpdata/en/7a/4c38814a0111d1894c0000e829fbbd/frameset.htm

Now to your question, since you wish to add another field to the COPA data source you need to find out if that field is already available in KEB0. If yes then you just need to add this field to your data source. To check if data is availble for this field from COPA,you need to go to the underlying COPA tables, check the line item table CE1XXXX table where XXXX is your operating concern.

If this field is not available from COPA then you need to populate this field through the user exit.
