Movement type reference in StTy search.

Hi all,

In customizing (IMG - Logistics Execution - Warehouse Management - Strategies - Activate Storage Type Search) you can activate the movement type reference. Under the button you can define a reference, under determine search sequence you can fill in that reference under Ref StTy search.

Do we have to do more under some other custo?

What exactly does this do? Has anyone an example how to use this?

Please, help me with some good explanation, not only quoting the helptext.

TIA,

Regards,

Frank

Hi

The reason for this is that for certain movement types ypou may want the material to react differently that the other movement types so therefore you can create this entry and apply it to your search strategy and what will happen is when that stock is moved, received etc whenh the system checks the strategy it will look at what it needs to do and if there is no mvt type ref then it will go to one st type but if there is and that is the movement type that is being used then it will fo where that strategy tells it.

I hope that this helps.

Can anyone give a business scenario for this reference storage type? I noticed that there is a move type 320 - Auto Fixed Bin Replenish is setting this reference storage type indicator as 1 in the standard system?

Thanks

Hello,

The reference storage type 1 will simply divert the "storage type search " to the entries you specify in OMLY.

In other words, if you had a material with a putaway indicator = Y , and in normal circumstances for say 101 it would be going to storage search table and the finds storage type = A, however this same material when its a part of mvt. type 320 will be directed towards a diffn storage type based on putaway indicator and ref. storage type search.

Hope this helps!

Thanks,

Hi Frank,

I'll give it a try; when for example you create you own mvt based on a standard SAP mvt, you can use the standard mvt as the reference mvt. If you've added the reference mvt in the storage type determination, you dont have to add your new mvt in this table, as the reference mvt is already in there.

This is how we've been using it. It simply saves you making entries for the newly created mvt.
