Cost allocation based on time sheet

Hi,

I have a scenario to capture employees working time based on different projects/ sales order/ Internal services etc., and their cost has to be assigned to respective costcenters based on their actual (no.of hours) effort.

For Eg: If an employee works for 3 different projects in a day, his actual effort (2 hours in project#1, 3hours for Project#2, 3 hours for project#3) has to be assigned to respective costcenters.

Please help to address this scenario.

Thanks in advance!

Hi swetha,

Actually cost centers & porjects (or WBS elements) are totally different concepts.

Although you can make the cost center assignment of an employee thru HR module, project assignments are done thru PS system (CNR2 transaction).

Make the employees be assigned to respective projects (in CNR2) & according to the time data entered thru timesheet (CAT2), the costs gonna go to the respective WBS elements.

Best wishes,

Hi,

Thanks for your reply! We are not going for CATS. So, in that case, Please suggest as to how to handle this scenario.

Thanks!

swetha,

So you need to update time data manually into the system.

You may make your employees enter their time data into MS Excel & you may create LSMW or batch input to load this data into CATS module.

You're gonna collect time data regarding to projects from employees in some way, right?

Best wishes

Hi,

We are not implementing CATS module.

The Scenario here is, if an employee works for project#1 for 2 hours and project#2 for 6 hours, his 2hours effort should be assigned to Project#1 Costcenter and 6hours effrot should be assigned to Project#2 Costcenter.

But my doubt is, how to assign cost centers in this case. We are planning to assign cost centers to positions. But without CATS how to handle this scenario.

Your response is highly appreciated.

so each of your projects are also cost centers. I don't guess it is a practical way of handling cost centers as projects are temporary while cost centers are more permanent.

anyway, try using IT0027. but in this case, a fixed percentage needs to be maintained.

for the work time, what comes to my mind is to use a Z table..

Hi,

I think without CATS, you can not maintain the details Project wise.

Also You should have the PS module to identify tasks, and the hours against that, then the WBS elements, for each WBS element there will be cost center assigned.

So when you are booking the time sheets through cats, you will mention WBS element and hours.

This is the process.

Try this process, You can create different Attendance types and book your attendance manually for each attendance type and generate TWT, and at some point of time these attendances, or TWT or at Payroll processing you need to assign different cost centers to the different attendances, or TWT or WT.

And if you follow the above procedure, you need to give time consttraint accordingly to 2001 IT.

Pl award points, if it is useful to you.

Hi Venu,

Actualy I have an issue.

I am posting hrs against projects worked on (WBS element as a receiver object) in CAT2, and on that basis whtever posting made in CAT2 i want to distribute the cost against recevers objects ( WBS Lements) while running the payroll. But it is not happning.

Cost is it getting distributed only when i am maintining cost distribution screen in info type 0027. Can you help me regarding this how to distrbute cost as per the CAT2 posing made to receiver objects instead of maintining fix % in infor type 0027 ? as emplyee is working on different muliple assignments everday. I want to use onle WBS element and not a network in CAT2.

Regards,

Pradeep
