Using Multiple Spreadsheet Components as Selector

Hey there,

Here is the scenario:

I have a Organizational Chart type of view going on. Within each 'box' (place on the org chart) I have a spreadsheet component linked to 3 rows of data. Two of these rows are selectable, and when you click on them, data is passed to an area of the sheet that controls dynamic visibility. The purpose of this is essentially drill-down.

Let us suppose that on each Org Chart box we have 2 rows: Wages and Hours Worked. If I select the row containing 'Wages', then the value 1 is sent to another cell. That cell is linked to a chart showing the wages by day for that worker. If the user selects the Hours Worked row, a similar thing happens.

This functionality is fine. Here is the kicker: Another Org Chart box contains Wages and Hours Worked as well. When I click on 'Wages' for this person, the value 3 is sent to another cell. This then shows the wages by day for that second worker. This also works fine.

The problem is that there is still a row highlighted in the first Org Chart box. I need this to be deselected. Otherwise, if I follow the following steps, it does not work properly.

Click 'Wages' row on Worker 1.

Data appears correctly.

Click 'Wages' row on Worker 2.

Data appears correctly.

Click 'Hours Worked' row on Worker 2.

Data appears correctly.

Click 'Wages' row on Worker 1.

Nothing happens. (because that row is already highlighted within that component)

How can I link all of these things together?

Thanks,

Brian

    Hello Brian,

Assuming you are using 'Spreadsheet Table' components as selectors to pass the appropriate 'row' to the insert-row when the user clicks on it, you want to configure the Table components so that they are all passing to the same target row. Also, you want each selection to pass a 'unique' value to control dynamic visibility on which chart displays. For example, one Table will be passing '1,2,3' and another Table will be passing '4,5,6', etc. Each chart will have a unique display status field so that when the appropriate values is passed to the cell, the correct chart will display and the rest will hide. Please let me know if you have any additional questions.

    Best regards,

    AJ

      Hello Brian,

I think I understand your issue now. Unfortunately as you are utilizing 'multiple' Table components - one Table Component will not have any bearing on what is highlighted on another Table Component. You are looking for dynamic selection and that is not an option. What you may want to consider is to redesign your model so that only one table Component displays at a given time via dyanmic visibility.

      Thanks,

      AJ

That's what I figured. Thanks for the response.

If anyone is wondering, the only way to make this work is to have duplicates of each of your tables, one with row selection on, the other with it off. You then use dynamic visibility to determine if one or the other is selected.
