Hello Folks

When I try to access the dashboards from BI Launchpad, the Lumira designer crashes with the following error (screen shot attached).

Java was started but returned exit code= -805306369

-XX: +HeapDumpOnOutOfMemoryError

The source is HANA views and Lumira version is 2.0.

Can anyone help me out. Thank You.

Hello - if it is SP2 of 2.0, consider upgrading to SP3 or 2.1 and move up to BI4.2 SP05

Hi Tammy

Thank you for your views. I am currently using SAP Lumira 2.0 SP 3 running on BI platform 4.2 SP 4.

Is this a known bug ?

Hi Arun - I would take a close look at the SAP Product Availability Matrix to ensure that your version of HANA, BI Platform, Lumira are all compatible along with your BI platform's operating system

Hi Tammy

Thank you. Will wait for your feedback.

Hello Arun - did you review the PAM and compare it with your systems?

Hi Tammy

The current landscape is compatible. Lumira 2.0 with BI 4.2.

Try to reduce the memory settings on the ‘SapLumiraDesigner.ini’ file located in the SAP Lumira Designer installation directory. You can see more about it on the heap dump allocation and permanent generation memory parts of this blog post: https://blogs.sap.com/2014/11/01/sap-design-studio-client-tool-customization-part-01/

HI Gisele

Thank you for your comments. I did checked the link shared and have changed the SapLumiraDesigner configuration file under Program Files. I changed the xmx and xms parameters and this did not help. I am still facing the same error.

Hi Gisele

I used -XX:MaxPermSize=2048M and it did helped me in resolving the issue. How low can we go for this parameter ?

It depends on the system, but for xmx of 4g I try using 1g (same as Design Studio).

HI Gisele

Thank you for the response. It did helped me for the issue, but still I can find some delays in editing the Lumira Dashboards. I have used extensive SVG images for icons and logos. Will that be the reason.

Do I need to change the SVG images to PNG image file type. ?

Hello Arun, what do you need a workaround for? Did it start crashing again or you are having delays in editing Lumira Dashboards?

If it is the delays, please check the following KBA:

1931691 - Performance hints for Design Studio/Lumira applications

If it started crashing again, does it crash with the same error message?

Hi,

Where is your lumira designer located?....Is it located in your local computer connecting BO server via vpn? or it is located in citrix environment?

Atleast in one of the scenario, i have observed this behavior with my client tool to open the dashboards and in my scenario few automated system updates(however i dint the exact root cause what file corrupted) caused the issue to open the dashboard...Resetting/complete format of the computer solved the issue.

btw, How heavy your dashboard size is?...are you using too many images or data sources and compoenents?

BR,

Lakshmikanth Adharapurapu

Hi Lakshmikanth

Thank you for your response. My Lumira designer is located on the local computer connecting to BO server through VPN. This is a strange issue where at times the dashboard opens fine and sometimes not.

The dashboard is bit heavy with map components and charts.

Hello people

Is there any relation between Google Chrome and Lumira. I happened to see a KBA 2072965 which explains that we need to uninstall google chrome and then reinstall lumira.

link: https://apps.support.sap.com/sap/support/knowledge/public/en/2072965

Any suggestions please.
