Secondary cost element creation for G/L account in MDG

Hi All,

Have any of you worked on Secondary Cost element creation for existing G/L accounts in SAP MDG.

I’m trying to create secondary cost element for existing G/L accounts via Finance controlling -> Create Cost Element form. But I’m getting an error saying that Secondary cost element can’t be created as G/L account exists.

In simple finance we can create secondary cost elements for G/L accounts, but from MDG it’s not allowing to create.

If anyone have details, please suggest.

Hello Michael

I tried to create secondary cost element through GL - company extend screen in MDG. It's working fine but we are facing issue while replicating the secondary CE to SAP S/4. The cost element is extended to all company code after replication. We are using SOA for replication.

Hi,

SAP MDG is still implemented in the ERP fashion. Meaning:

1. Secondary Cost Elements cannot be maintained as part of the Account Maintenance.
2. Secondary Cost Elements have to be maintained independently.
3. There must not be an account for the secondary cost element.
4. Replication of secondary cost elements to S/4 has to be done via the cost element web service / IDoc type. Required mapping / transition into the account, etc. is done by S/4 during inbound processing.
5. SAP note 2021246 - MDG-F: (Un-) Supported Fields in Data Model 0G contains further information
