SBO and XL Reporter-Is it Vista Complaint?

Former Member

Hi,

Is XL Reporter compatible with Vista?

Firstly SBO works very slow on VISTA.

Secondly, On trying to install XL Reporter on a laptop, having Windows vista, it gives the following error:

"Application has generated an error that could not be handled.

Process ID:0xe00 (3584) , Thread id:0xcb4 (3252)

Click OK to terminate the application.

Click cancel to debug the application."

Please advice!

Regards,

Jyoti

Hi Jyoti,

Updated information regarding SAP Business One Product Availability for example if and when Vista is supported can be retrieved from the Channel Partner Portal on the site SAP Business One Platform Strategy.

The link can be retrieved from

> Channel Partner Portal

> Solutions > SAP Business One (Top Menu Bar)

> Product Availability (Left Menu)

> Supported Platforms - Servers, clients, databases, and desktop systems (At the bottom of the page)

The direct link for me is:

https://websmp209.sap-ag.de/~form/sapnet?_SHORTKEY=01100035870000707558&_SCENARIO=011000358700000001...;

Here you can view the updated information. As mentioned before currently supported is:

  • 2007A as of Patch Level 03 and 64 Bit mode of Windows Vista is supported as of 2007 A PL37 and 2007 B PL05

The SAP formal internal processes that are required for the announcement of Vista support with the 2005 release track have not been completed yet. Hence, Vista support will be announced as soon as these processes are completed.

That means in general it should work but 2005 is not officially supported yet and I suggest to check the Portal for any news.

Kind Regards,

Friederike

Hi Jyoti,

I've found that SBO will run very slowly in Vista but only if the Aero theme has the transparency turned on. Turn that off and you should get normal response times.

Hi

Sometimes the Windows Vista UAC (user account control) may affects the add-ons operation.

Please check if turning of the UAC helps to fix/improve it as per Microsoft steps:

Jyoti,

SAP Business One 2007A PL03 and higher are the only versions of SAP Business One that were tested under MS Vista Business, Enterprise & Ultimate Edition. Any other version of Business One ... while it may work ... has not been tested.

You can verify compatibility by opening a message with SAP Support.

Hi Eddy,

With regards to this same query, there were a couple of questions which needed to be answered:

1. All Laptops and desktops now come with Windows Vista license, and Windows XP licenses are also not available. Does this mean that in the near future we will have to upgrade the SAP software to a vista complaint version?

2. Will the upgrade be chargeable?

3. I wanted to login this issue to SAP directly but could not find the link, can you advice which support link to use.

Thanks once again.

Jyoti,

I am not the right person to answer these questions as they do not have anything to do with the SDK.

What I can say is that the shipping version of SAP Business One 2007A (since PL03) has been tested to run on Windows Vista. Any previous version of SAP Business One may run, especially if you set the compatibility mode in vista for Business One to XP SP2, but have not been tested. Again ... these are my personal observations. The actual authority is SAP Support.

As far as entering and SAP Support message, if you are an SAP Partner, you can access the SAP PartnerEdge Portal and then ...

https://websmp205.sap-ag.de/smb/sbo/support

... from here you need to click on the "Contact Support" link and follow the information on that page.
