Database for CR attachments in MDG

Experts,

My client is running MDG from last year (Vendor, Customer & Material). It's a hub deployment.

Everything is running fine but nowadays we keep getting warning on disc usage for our MDG Production system. After doing analysis we found out that our main culprit is CR Attachments. Users are attaching huge documents (as part of approval Process) to the CRs and table USMD1212 is growing like anything.

We are in the process of installing a Central Repository which acts as a database for all the documents to MDG & ECC systems. How can I configure the Content Area for CR to the new database rather than MDG Production.

I am not able to find that configuration in Content Repositories OAC0 t-code.

Any help would be useful.

Thanks,

Rohit

Hi Rohit,

MDG stores documents in SAP table. If you wanted to move documents somewhere else then we need to take care of that. Create a web dynbro component or enhance the existing feeder class to load and upload documents. There are blogs which explains how to read and write data from content repository.

Thanks and Regards,

Hi Logan,

Custom WD component is not a solution for us as we are using CR attachments section heavily in order to find out the attached docs for validity purpose. Too much of change.

Existing Feeder Class enhancement can be an option. I can explore into it. Thanks for this.

However, are there no other options to store the documents in a different database rather than MDG database??

Thanks,

Rohit

Hi Rohit,

File upload and download will be easy with web dynbro because there are file upload and download layout components available and all you need is drag and drop. Otherwise create FPM configuration by defining all in the feeder class also(Ex use mdg feederclass for attchments). you can save attachments anywhere i.e same datebase or different database. In one project we used to save all attachments to server directory. Simply you need to take care of reading and writing data.

Its better if you take a copy of existing feeder class and adjust according to your usage.

Thanks and Regards,

Hi,

You can also think of a standard solution for this. You can create a separate cr type/entity with auto approval functionality to store your text content in the string type multiple attributes.

This will be in parallel to your original cr type and will be auto approved once your original cr type is approved.

Thanks,

Naveen
