Sales Order Stock transfer to port location for export

Hello,

I'm currently working in a project where client export their goods to various countries on make to order basis. They ship the goods by air/sea to the customers. For that they need to transfer the goods to the port first. Once you moves stock from plant/warehouse, you have do PGI for the outbound delivery. But my client doesn't want to do PGI until final shipment from port.

My Solution to Client:

1. We will create one virtual storage location for port location within manufacturing plant. So that we can count how much stock is there in port location.

2. We will create a enhancement in outbound delivery. After creating outbound delivery automatic batch determination(As material in batch managed) will be done from the sales order stock within the plant. A push button "Transfer to Port" will be there in outbound delivery which will transfer the sales order stock to port location storage location & will change the storage location outbound delivery.

I have not yet developed the solution. Don't even know if it will work or not as per solution.

Do you have any other better solution?

Thanks in advance,

Surajit Kar

Again why MIGO? Once the material is transferred via MB1B from manufacturing plant to virtual plant, from the virtual plant, your client has just to create sale order and follow subsequent SD process.

If this will not address your requirement, then, perhaps, you need to explain more from business perspective what exactly they are doing currently and as I highlighted already, you also need to care of Customs and Excise authorities expectations from statutory point of view.

1. MB1B is not available in S/4 HANA.

2. I'm not creating any virtual plant for port. I'm creating only a virtual storage location for port location within manufacturing plant.

Coming to you "Customs and Excise authorities expectations" point -they do not have as such. They only need to show commercial invoice, Packing list, export permissions details(outside SAP), bank forwarding details((outside SAP) etc. There is no customs requirements like in INDIA.

3. I want to transfer the sales order stock to port location through a enhancement as client doesn't want to do PGI before final shipment. During PGI outbound delivery storage location will be Port location.

Is it possible through enhancement.

Why enhancement when you can do via standard stock transfer which I already mentioned?

Because there will be 100's of line items in outbound delivery & 2-3 batches in every line item. It'll be difficult for user to add the line items manually in MIGO.

You can treat the port as a virtual storage location but if the manufacturing plant has not activated batch, then there is no need to carry out this activity at virtual storage location. Just do stock transfer via MB1B with movement type 311 and from virtual plant, carry out the standard SD process. But I am not sure on the statutory requirements from Customs and Excise point of view like, if some export benefits are involved for doing export sales and the credit should pass on to delivering plant, then, in that case, you cannot declare port as a manufacturing plant. So in these aspects, you need to address this requirement.

Thanks Lakshmipathi sir for your reply.

Few points I want to mention.

1. Manufacturing plant is Batch activated.

2.There is no customs requirements like this which you have mentioned in your comment.

My concern is that-

1. Export orders are on Make to order basis. So, after completion of the production, production team will put the stock to the manufacturing plant storage location(sales order stock).

2. During outbound delivery batch will be determined automatically from the sales order stock, & storage location will be my manufacturing plant storage location.

3. I want to transfer the sales order stock to port location through a enhancement as client doesn't want to do PGI before final shipment. During PGI outbound delivery storage location will be Port location.

Is it possible through enhancement.

Process flow in the enhancement:

1. Transfer the sales order stock from manufacturing plant storage location to virtual port location(sales order stcok).

I'll be using BAPI_GOODSMVT_CREATE to transfer the stock to port location.

2. Change the storage location in outbound delivery to port location.

I'll be using BAPI_OUTB_DELIVERY_CHANGE to the storage location in outbound delivery.

Please let me know if this is feasible or not. If not what are the optional solutuons.

again thanks in advance,

Surajit
