Hi all,
we wanted to try out the HANA Express. As we have a VM infrastructure, we loaded the image into our vSphere.
To match our IT infrastructure we need to change the hostname from hxehost to the network host.
I faced several issues trying this before the configuration.
What I did:
I skipped the configuration in the first place to update the hostname to NEW_HOST.
I restarted the VM to reflect the changes on the NIC.
Now the configuration won't run succesfully as it's still watching for hxehost everywhere.
Do I need to configure the installation first and update the hostname afterwards? I found something using the lifecyclemanager hdblcmgui.
Is there any "easy" way ti achieve my goal?
Thanks and best regards,
Markus
Hi,
You need to run through the configuration first then change the hostname. With the new hostname, you can change HANA system host with "hdblcm --action=rename_system". See https://help.sap.com/viewer/6b94445c94ae495c83a19646e7c3fd56/2.0.00/en-US/5eb88b11192b43bf8da3abeefd... for detail.
Note: This doesn't work with the server + XSA VM image. We are working to resolve this.

Hello,
I am currently trying to rename my host as well and I tried the solution you provided here.
Unfortunately my system does not provide the rename_system option. Has it been removed and how would the updated command look like? Or is it simply not available in the hana express vm image?
Thanks a lot for your answer and kind regards,
Saskia

EDIT: Please ignore my question. The system clearly told me that the "rename_system" information is not available if you do not execute hdblcm as root user. Sorry, my bad
