As Amr mentioned above, BO LCM (LifeCycle Manager XI 3.1) may be your best bet. LCM (currently requires a beta invitation [beta.businessobjects.com]) does include version control.
LCM will eventually be incorporated into BO XI 3.0.
All the documentation falls under a rather specific NDA. I suggest you sign up for the beta. It's painless, I had my approval in a few hours.
Very briefly, LCM (amongst other features) also provides version control version control and rollback functionallity via Subversion and it works as advertised.
I expect the client would have to sign an NDA too.
Below is the relevant section of the NDA (posted verbatim):
You must maintain the Pre-Release Product and corresponding materials and information as confidential information of Business Objects. You must use the same security measures to protect the Pre-Release Product as you use to protect your own confidential information. You must not disclose such information to anyone other than your employees (and Business Objects approved contractors under nondisclosure obligations) who have a need to know. The foregoing confidentiality obligations do not apply to any information generally available to the public, independently developed or obtained without reliance on Business Objectsu2019 information or approved for release by Business Objects.
