Using SDA to connect Oracle DB to HANA / BW on HANA / Type mapping not supported NCHAR->CHAR

Dear community,

I am trying to create a data source based on SDA (HANA Source system) referring to an Oracle view in order to build a further data flow in BW.

After trying to activate I am notice an error message in HANA Studio which says: "Type mapping not supported: NCHAR -> CHAR". The entries in the respective tabel are only Text entries e.g. KG, L, M3 etc., so I do not see why the Type mapping in this case should not working.

Each effort to choose another Data type does not provide success. How can I define the correct data type or how do I have to receive the respective entries?

We are running on BW 7.5 on HANA SP5. Any idea would be great. Thank you in advance. Best regards, Stefanos from Munich/Germany

I hit the same problem trying to create a DataSource in Eclipse from a SQL Server database.

I got around it by creating a view on the table in SQL Server and in the view CONVERT(NVARCHAR(nn),fieldname) on any fields

    defined as NCHAR.

Not happy that I had to do that.

    I would try the following:

    1. Create a virtual table (either manually or via Open ODS View) on remote table

    2. Create Calculation view, change data type inside CV (create calculated column type NVARCHAR or whatever you need)

    3. Load via ODP HANA Information View context from calculation view
