Project stucture related querry

Hi,

In one of our project , One WBS element say 01-0001-01 is at level 1. Now the lower WBS elements 01-0001-01.001 and 01-0001-01.002 is also created at the level 1.

The project now is in the REL status.

because of this, the budget alloted to the lower wbs does not get totalled up to the parent wbs ie.01-0001-01.

Can i now change the level of these lower wbs to level 2 or so?

and if so ..how ?

Please advice.

Thanks in advance

Regards

Sandeep.

Hi,

What syed said will solve your problem.

Also if you always want only one top level wbs element, keep in mind to tick the "only one root" indicactor in the project profile.

Hi Pathap, Syed

Firstly thanks for your quick response .

But , is it really possible to drag and drop?

Because i have 4 wbs elements which are created under one level ( same level i.e 1).

eg..i have 01.0001-01 , 01.0001-01.001 , 01.0001-01.002. all are in level 1.

i want to change say 01.0001-01.002 to level 2. is that possible ?

Please advice.

Thanks and regards

Hi Sandeep,

Yes you can do it.

Click the 01.0001-01.002 WBSE, drag it and leave it on 01.0001-01 WBSE. It will surely change.

in the transaction cj20n, open the project as normal and hit Shift+F6. This will take you to the hierarchy graphic.

Use the Ctrl+F6 (Connect button besides delete). With the Pencil shaped cursor, Connect from parent WBSE to the child WBSE.

Otherwise if you want many WBS elements at level 1 (and if they are hierarchically connected already) then select the WBS you want to "cut from hierarchy" hit Ctrl+F8.

You can play around with the WBS hierarchy as you like...

Please note that I personally like this method as it is simple and gives a better look and feel of the WBS hierarchy.

Hope this helps...
