Hi all
I am new to XI. I have a doubt. When a message fails where do we check first ? At adapter level or integration server. We have the option to select one of these in RWB. which should be the first option ? How do we proceed step by step ?
Hi Ajith Chandran
,

The Runtime Workbench provides access to all the monitoring activities.

RunTime WorkBench lies on the Java Stack and it allows you to view the flow of your message from the Adapter Engine ( on Java Stack ) to the Integration Engine ( on ABAP Stack ), and again to the Adapter Engine.
SXMB_MONI runs on the ABAP stack allows you to monitor the message flow only in the ABAP stack / Integration Engine.
SXMB_MONI helps you to find any error in the xi steps. But it will not tell you if you have any errors on the adapters.
So for checking any errors on the adapters and the errors for communicaiton channels we need to go with RWB.
RWB enables a central monitoring of the XI server which has multiple features which SXMB_MONI doesnt provide - http://help.sap.com/saphelpnw04/helpdata/en/7c/14b5765255e345a9e3f044f1e9bbbf/content.htm_
In Runtime workbench, you can have different options which xi provides...like component monitoring,Performance monitoring,End to End monitoring, message monitoring...etc..
In sxmb_moni you can able to see the xml messages only.

Hi Ajith Chandra,
First messages are checking in Sxi_monitor in XI, Here its display the all types of messages in like "Successfully processed" ,"Application errors" , "System Errors" like....etc..
If u fail the adpaters side we can check the adapter monitoring in RWB.

Skumar

Hi Ajith,
In XI you can check the message details and its status in either ABAP stack or in Java stack.
The first and easiest step is to check it in ABAP Stack by using Transaction SXI_MONITOR or SXMB_MONI.
Most of the errors except those messages fails in non central adapter engine will be captured there.
You can go and check the tress to find out exact error.
If you see that the message status is Successful Processed in SXI_MONITOR and it has not received to the receiver system then it is possibile that, it might have failed in Adapter engine.
Then go to Runtime Workbench and check the message by selecting appropriate adapter engine.
You will get the exact status and error log about the message.

Shri.

Hi,
First option will be checking the message in SXMB_MONI and you can check in RWB also.
