Database Backup

Hi Experts,

I need to know what to consider when backing up on database level (Native Database backup and restore, Console Reference Guide, page 209).

Up to this point I don't understand how to restore a repository with a database backup.

Does anybody know or have documentation on this issue?

Thanks and Kind Regards,

Ingo Taraske

Hi Minaz,

thanks for your quick answer.

The recommended document only describes the "normal" MDM operations of archive, unarchive, duplicate ecc.

My scenario is a bit different: the backup type must be database native.

So immagine the following case:

1) your repository is in production, a daily backup is made on database level every night at 1AM (Oracle database recovery tools or similar)

2) a fatal error occurs at 2PM in the afternoon and the whole machine your MDM is running on is lost

3) task: you need to restore your MDM repository to exactly the state of 2PM

4) first thing you do is to restore your database instance using the nightly backup and the log files written between 1AM and 2PM, with the result of the state of 2PM

5) second thing is to re-setup MDM Server

5) third: I need to connect the MDM Server to the restored repository

I am not sure how to perform step 5. Does anybody know?

Thanks,

Ingo
