BFC 10: Restricting comments to 254 char during data entry

Hi All,

Given the limitation of being unable to retrieve comments larger than 254 characters using Excel Links-FC, (SAP Note 1740422) is there a way to restrict the comments field in the FC schedules to allow data entry less than 254 characters?

Is there a way I can use the length(expression) function to display the number of characters entered in the comments field? Our end users do not use Excel retrieve to submit comments data so the suggested solution of Excel Data Validation is not applicable in our case. Data entry is performed using the BFC web interface so if we could give them some kind of visual 'control' on the comments by displaying the number of characters, that would be really helpful.

In Excel you can use Excel "Data Validation" with a formula to prevent data entry based on string length.

P.S. But how it's related to EPM Add-In for Excel???

Thanks, I've removed the EPM Add-In for Excel tag
