Hi,

I have to create search help for a field(ztab-type) in a custom table. The field should show 3 values, video game, pc game, stuffed toy. How can I create it.

Go to SE11.

check the radio button search help --> give the name, and put the required information and conditons in the search help and afterwards attach this searchhelp to the data element.

go to SE11 >> click on Search help radio button>> give a search help name >> then Click on Create >> a pop up will appear which will ask u the type of search help, as per ur requirement choose 'Elementary search help' >> give ur master table name in ' Selection method ' >> in 'Search help parameter name' specify ur field name on which u want to create Search help >> also click on import (IMP) and export(EXP) checkbox >> specify LPOS and SPOS ( these are the length and width of pop up window which will appear on pressing F4 ) >> specify the data element for that field also >>

save it and activate it >> now you can specify ur search help name in any table which is using that field .

Hi

1. Go To SE11 Tcode

2.Select The radio button of search Help.

3.Enter The search help Name and click Press Enter button.

4.Next select the Elementary search help radio buttton.

5.Press Enter.

6.Provide the short description and the selection method provide the DB Table name.

7.Provide the fields.

8.Save it, Check It & Activate it.

9.Then execute it.

10.We can see the popup screen, and then press F4 in this page.

11.Now we can find the possiable values of that perticular fields.

Hi,

CREATION:

Go to SE11 Tcode

select search help

give the 'z' search help name and create

select the selection method ur table name eg : 'mara'

dialog module 'display value immediately'.

add the field whatever u want and lpos = 1 and spos = 1 and check import and export parameter.

where left position when displaying and spos = search position

and then save and activate ..

Hi All,

Thank you for all the info.

My table is a custom table(ZPROD) and also the Field(Type) and Domain(ZDTYPE). Where can I enter the values video game, pc game, stuffed toy for the field ZPROD-Type.

When we go to SE16 and the same field, I want the 3 values to be displayed on the pop up window if we click on the little button next to it.

Please some one give me the steps to get this help button.

I did up to this, but did not save it yet.

Hi All,

I saved it and Activated. Now when I execute it I am getting a pop up window with Parameter - TYPE, Field Attr. - Ready for inp, Screen fld- a small text box with nothing in it.

When I click the Test/Enter green right mark, I am getting 25000000010061001-07-0001C and 25000000010061001-07-0002C as values in another pop up window. What are these values? How can I enter the values for type field, as Video Game, PC Game, Stuffed Toy.

I went to SE16 and when I go to the field TYPE, I donot see the little button next to it or any values.

Please help me.

Hi,

Scrap the search help and do as I said.

Enter the values in the domain of the field. you will automatically see the F4 help option.

How can I un do the search help that I saved and activated. I think it will move with the transport. Is there any way I can un do it and create the help the way you told.

Hi All,

I entered the values for the domain in the value range. Activated it. But it did not show up in SE16, for the TYPE field.

May be because I created the search help, but I did not attach it to the field. So went to SE11 and deleted the search help.

But still the values entered in the value range are not showing up.

I have two different transport requests one for search help and one for value range.

I have to show it to the user in the afternoon.

Can some one please help me with this.

Hi,

You dont need a search help for this.

In the domain for the field: ZPROD-Type, click on Value range tab.

Enter Fic.Val and short description:

01, video game,

02, pc game,

03, stuffed toy

On the screen, the description will be shown and in the database the values will be stored.

Hi Kamesh,

As search help was not working properly, I entered the values for the value range. When I go to SE16 and to the field TYPE I donot see the little help button next to it, but if I pree F4 I am able to see the values V-Video game, P-Pc game and S-Soft Toy for type and short text. If I click on Soft toy the value is comming as S, but I want the description Soft Toy to come. And also why the help button is not displaying.

Please help.
