Problem with Report Designer (not getting updated from the query)

Hi

1. We are having a peculiar problem with our Report Designer. We are on Support Pack 3 for the Front End.

2. We had built a report on a Query (ie., data provider) and now we have added a few more fields in the underlying query.

3. But when I go back to the Report Designer, and try to add these new fields, I dont see them on the left hand side under the 'Field Catalog'.

4. There is an option called "Check Data Provider.." in the report menu but its never active, even when I select the query (or the data provider).

5. We suspect that it might be an issue with the Support Pack?

Srinivas,

Try right clicking on the name of the query (the data provider in the report). Does the Check Data Provider come up there? It might still be grayed out under the Report drop down list

once you bring in the new components of the structure (or key figures), the will be listed in the Query Fields on the left - they will not automatically populate into the report.

Also, the report designer will make a copy of the original report and save it

I don't recall having that issue when being on the support pack 3 (6 is the latest for 7.1 GUI now)

I tried doing that.. you cannot find the option in the context menu by right clicking. But even when i select the data provider (or query) i still dont have the "Check Data Provider.." option active, in the normal report menu.

And I saw that the latest service pack is at 8 ...if not even more. Anyway.. a few more suggestions will help.

We are facing the same issue with the report designer, the changes we make to the query doesn't get reflected in the report designer. If you have figured out the reason, please share the information with us. I will do the same.

I am having the same issue. When I make any changes in Query Designer and open my Report Designer, they are not reflected there. It has nothing to do with what support Package, patch or version you are running.

There are two possible solution:

1. Select the whole area in Repott Designer and Right Mouse Click and choose Check Data Provider

2. The only option you can try is go to Tool from Report Designer and go to BEx Query designer and make sure you see changes are there. If you don't see changes there then make changes, click save and then excute back. ( This process works for me)

The rest is your Luck.

Do you also experience slowness with Report Desinger?
