Shall patch level instalation included in upgrade price

Hello,

I have purchased an upgrade from 9.1 to 9.2 included installation.

I would like to know, when we purchase an upgrade, if it is normal or not that all the patch level update are included in the price of the main version upgrade.

For me yes, because if the 9.2 PL01 is including bugs, it is normal to patch it with higher patch to correct them.

My integrator wants me to pay extra...

What is your suggestion?

Hello Johan,

Thank you for your answer.

I found a new SAP partner, the one that help me start my system, they asked me to contact SAP directly by writing a letter. I did and since then they did not do anything, I though I would receive a confirmation from SAP France.

Early this week I contacted the new partner but no answer yet (may be they are on vacation).

Sincerely

Patrice

Hi Patrice,

Unfortunately there are SAP Partners out there who offer less than stellar service. I am sorry to hear your current SAP Partner is one of these.

Fortunately switching SAP Partners is not too difficult. The best way is to find and contact a new SAP Partner first. They will take care of the transfer of your maintenance contract, and they will also guide you. You will probably be asked to write a letter of intent to your old SAP Partner, sign the new contract, and that is it.

It is better not to wait for SAP [your location here], to react to your inquiry, as they sell SAP Business One only through their partner network. They assume that all interaction with customers is handled by these resellers, and are likely never to answer your messages.

Regards,

Johan

Because my integrator was dishonest I did stop my maintenance. Later I need to buy extra license (the integrator made me buy the wrong one) and I found out that you cannot buy a new license if you are not under a maintenance contract. This I do not like from SAP, I'm stuck for several month.

Hello,

Thank you for your answer and time.

I was not clear, my question concerned the installation of the upgrade. I could get the software upgrade but not the installation, to install it I have to pay extra.

Since then, because of many problems with my integrator, I'm trying to change it, but so fare, SAP is not answering my request.(2 month wait at this time).

Patrice,

Licensing questions are generally frowned upon in the SAP Community, as contracts are individually negotiated with each customer. So, you really need to ask your SAP Account Rep.

However, while I can't speak for Business One, the typical ERP application contract would include all upgrades and all patches as long as you keep paying the maintenance fee to SAP and remain on a supported release. And, any upgrade would typically be to the highest patch level available on the target release. Business One is a different beast, however, and I'm not familiar with how maintenance is structured for that product. My gut feel is that if an integrator is asking you to pay extra to include released patches with an upgrade, then you should probably find another integrator.

Again, check with your Account Rep.

Cheers,
Matt
