CUSTOMER PRODUCTION LANDSCAPE IN VAR

Hi

As a VAR partner, how to define/add customer systems ( at least production) for the purpose of running MOPZ on customer systems.

Is there any job that fetches all the systems details and update that info in SMSY/LMDB etc etc? . WE have solman 7.1

Please note that customers don't allow RFC creation from VAR solman to their solman for security reasons

Hi TOM

Thanks for a detailed and really helpful answer

As part of PCOE audit, all Customers solution landscape must be defined in VAR Solman. I mean all maintenance customers with productive systems should be defined in VAR SAP Solution Manager. I am a bit confused on this as under non-VAR secanio, if we are on same network we send Production data via RZ70 to Solman and then in solution manager we run Managed system configuration in Solman_setup.

How to achieve this and add customer Production systems in VAR solman ?

Hi Farooq

The proper was is to have those systems register into the SLD of your VAR Solution Manager so they synchronize to your LMDB and in the end are synchronized from SAP Solution Manager to SAP Support Portal. Since you state customers don't allow this, the alternative could be, given the customer has a SAP Solution Manager system that you perform these activities through their SAP Solution Manager installation instead. In the end the data needs to end up on SAP Support Portal since you're supposed to use Maintenance Planner (cloud application on SAP Support Portal) and no longer Maintenance Optimizer.

An alternative can be to get the XML structure file from SPAM transaction in the customer system and then import this into Maintenance Planner. This is to support customers who have high security standards and do not allow SolMan to connect to internet for example, see below SAP note:

https://launchpad.support.sap.com/#/notes/2287046/E

This is only supported for ABAP stacks at the moment, for JAVA stacks you would need a customer message as stated in the SAP note.

Again, the best, proper, recommended solution is to get this up and running in an automated way so the data is also automatically updated when a system is patched thus ideally you would connect the system to the SAP Solution Manager system.

Best regards

Tom
