Delete budgeted project

During upgrade testing from 4.7 to 6.0 we found we cannot delete budgeted projects in 6.0. Error messages CJ055 and CJ057 come when we try to delete. Our 4.7 system has different behavior.

In 4.7 a few users are able to delete budgeted projects with no error message. What would allow this? And what would be implication of deleting project with budget?

Hi Steve Williams,

Check that WBS is Acct.asst element or not?

If it is Acct.asst element element then we can stop the users.

WBS is acct assignment. We already use roles and authorizations to control who can delete project. Users with proper role and auth can delete CRTD status project with budget and acct assignment in version 4.7. I am asking how this is possible. What kind of config or authorizations allow user to avoid errors CJ055 and CJ057.

Really doubt if your users managed to delete the WBS inspite of WBS having status BUDG set even in 4.7.

If you wish to delete budgeted WBS elements, first delete the budget on the WBS (using CJ30) and then execute the T Code OPSX (which resets the BUDG status).

Only after performing the above process you'll be allowed to delete the WBS element.

Hi Sreenivas,

I also doubted it. So I created project in 4.7, applied budget to it, and saved. System status was then CRTD BUDG. As expected errors CJ055 and CJ057 came when I tried to delete. I then asked one of the projects admins to delete the project. He went directly into CJ02 and deleted the project with no messages, not even the are you sure challenge.

I understand that proper handling is to remove the budget and then delete. But somehow the project admins can delete without removing budget. We are wanting this same functionality in 6.0 but are unable to determine how this is working in 4.7.

Weird.

Just a thought: Did you change any standard message controls from error to warning for the message class CJ for mentioned user? Even in this case it should have resulted atleast in a warning.

I've got no further clue....let's wait for others view.

Yes. I checked for message control changes. None. We think this ability is somehow tied to the system status authorization groups but even a trace of the process has failed to shed light on how this works.

We now think the reason we can delete projects in BUDG status in 4.72 is because of program error. The note below is for 5.0 and 6.0 systems but we think the program error we have in 4.72 is the same error or closely related.
