Hi Experts,
There is a requirement to schedule a strategy maintenance plan for the first time.
Maintenance strategy contains 2 types of tasks, A & B where Task A performs in every 4 months and task B performs every 24 months.
so the pattern would be ---> A A A A A B A A A A ….
when performing Task B at month 24, task A should not be performed
Lets assume that we have completed 5A’s before the creation of plan and B is due next
How should i schedule the plan …which date should i given as the plan start date in IP10?
Thank you
Hi Sanka,
First of all a Maintenance Strategy never contains task, task can be defined in task list as operations only. We defines packages in maintenance strategy which is nothing but actually a maintenance cycle. In your case, the packages would be 4 month and 24 month( refer image-1). Now after creating this maintenance strategy, create a task list with two operations "TASK A" and "TASK B" (refer Image-2). In this task list, assign operations to maintenance package (refer image-3).
Now create a strategy based maintenance plan with scheduling period 30 months (example) and assign this task list and schedule this maintenance plan with date 07.03.2016 you will get results like image-4. In Image-4, you can see first call object is the order with due package 2. Since it has package 2 (24 month) and we had assigned the operation 2 (task B) to this package so the generated order will have only operation 2 only (refer Image-5).
Hope it will clear your all doubts.

Hi Sanka,
In IP11 transaction where we define strategy, we can use hierarchy functionality.
Hierarchy Functionality works as mentioned below:
Note:
If two packages with the same hierarchy are due at the same time, then both packages are performed.
If the two packages have different hierarchies, only the package with the higher hierarchy is performed.
Hope this resolves your query.

Shiv.

Hi Sanka,
First you need to make sure that you define hierarchies for the packages in maintenance strategy. If you do not want task A when the B is due, then you specify a hiearchy "1" for B and "2" for A.
If for example B is due today, then 06.03.2016 is your start of cycle.
