Change of dep key in mid year

Hi experts,

How can i change a dep key in mid of the year. Right now we are calculating a dep on asset 11.57% SLM and we want to change dep key from 1 Oct as 5% WDV methods.

Hi,

1) Carry out depreciation run for september

2) Go to asset master and change the depreciation key for the relevant depreciation areas.

System will find out the differential depreciation (till September) between the two methods. This differential depreciation (catch-up method) will be adjusted when you will carry out the depreciation run for October.

From October onwards, system will now automatically provide depreciation as per the new method.

Hi, I use ECC6.0, I can not find where to set "smooth" or "catch up", could you pls give me some advice?

Hi Ankur

You can follow the changeover method which enables you to change the depreciation key as required.You will find this field when you are defining you dep.keys.

Hi Ankur,

You change the Dep key in AS02 from SLM to WDV

Post dep till sep with old method and from Oct use new method difference will be posted in two methods

1) If you select Smooth method difference equally posted the difference dep amount equally divided in to remaining months and posted

2) if you select cathup method difference amount will be posted in one month.
