Upgrade from Windows server 2012 standard to Windows server 2012 R2

Hello ,

We are planning to upgrade Windows server from 2012 Standard to 2012 R2, on that OS we have Solution Manager 7.1 and Gateway Net Weaver 7.5.

Is there any impact to any one of the SAP system, please let us know.

Hello Anusha,

the procedure is called "Windows in-place setup" and upgrades the Windows OS from Windows 2012 to Windows 2012 R2. Keep an eye on the database! Not every database vendor supports this upgrade procedure.

Related to SAP services there is no impact.

Advice:

Uninstall your antivirus solution BEFORE you run the Windows setup application to upgrade the OS!

After in-place upgrade run Windows Update to get the latest patches for Windows Server 2012 R2. If the Windows OS is fully patched to actual level, then start again the database and SAP services.
