Converting Crystal 7 Reports to Current Versions

I have 34 RPT files that were designed in Crystal 7 using Delphi 5. The database used is microsoft SQL server. We have a need now to revive this old system and would like to be able to use the latest versions of the tools that were used. Is there a way to convert these RPT files to current version of Crystal Reports?

    Hi John,

First thing to do is get the latest version of Crystal Reports Designer from here:

    https://www.sap.com/products/crystal-reports.html

Do not install on same PC and CR 7.

There is not VCL for CR SDK any more, only option is CR for .NET.

You can either get Visual Studio 201 -> 2017 or I believe Delphi has a .NET plug-in or is capable of writing app's using .NET Assemblies.

CR runtime now is from here, no longer shipped with CR Designer:

    https://wiki.scn.sap.com/wiki/display/BOBJ/Crystal+Reports%2C+Developer+for+Visual+Studio+Downloads

First link to integrate into VS, but does not integrate into Delphi so just install the 32 and 64 bit MSI's

You need to update the Reports first, all DB drivers have been renamed.

Then it should work for you.

    Don
