Unable to Load Administration Lauchpad

Former Member

Hi,

I'm having a problem whereby when I try to launch the Administration Launchpad of Crystal Reports Server, the page is not loaded completely. I see the empty boxes without links on the left hand corner (which are supposed to be links for documentation, administration tools and 'more on the web'). There is no welcome note and no links pointing me to Central Management Console or Infoview. It's just blank.

Can anybody help?

Thanks!

First of all which OS and web browser are you using? Also, which version of .net framework are you using as well? That is if you're not using Tomcat.

I had a similar problem in Win Server 2003 and I did the following:

1. Add the root BO website to Intranet Sites for your browser under Internet Options --> Security

2. Install/Register .Net Framework 1.1 and set all virtual directories in IIS to use ASP 1.1 . BO refused to operate properly under Framework 1.0 or 2.0 . I believe it is stated that Framework 2.0 is not compatible with BO.

Hope this helps

Which version of windows are you using? Also, try adding the web address to intranet sites under your internet options in Internet Explorer. My Tomcat version gave similar problems til I added the web address to intranet sites.

Hi Zane,

I've tried adding the web address but the problem still persists. Any other ideas?

Thanks!

I don't think IBM HTTP Server alone can run Crystal Reports Server as it is not a servlet. So I'm assuming that you are using IBM Websphere as the application server. IBM HTTP is just the front end.

If that is the case, the installation document covers all configuration. I just read through it and it seems that it explains everything. I'm not sure of the link, but if I could get it to you somehow just let me know.

I can only find the quick installation on BO Website. However, the document is contained on CD1 of Crystal Reports Server. It's entitled "Business_Objects_Enterprise_Install". The installation starts on pg 60, but specific to IBM Websphere is on pg 62.

I can email it to you if you don't have it or can't find it. It a little over 1 mb. Just give me your email address if that is the case.

Hope that helps Yuen, good luck.

Hi, Can you please attach a screen shot showing the issues with your Admin Launchpad.

Questions:

1. What Java application server and exact version are you using?

2. Did you install CR XIR2 on one server and copy the war files over to the application server? If so, you cannot do this. You must complete a custom install of XIR2 on the application server selecting just the java web component adapter and the java sdk during the install process.

It sounds to me like your war files web.xml files are pointing to directory paths that are not available. Which would happen if you copied them from another server that had a different install path.

Hi Jack,

The problem is I don't really know what solved the issue. I'm actually posting this on behalf of a customer so when we went there to troubleshoot, restart the servers and everything, the page was able to load.

you can try to using the IP address instead of the server name

like

http://myservername:8080/,

make it http://192.168.22.22:8080/.

this is for example. just try this and send me ur feedback.

thank you
